Welcome to our special page for separated and divorced. We realize that if you are here, you are most probably either struggling with separation/divorce yourself or you are concerned about someone close to you and we are glad that you are reaching out. First, separation or divorce does not change a person’s status in the Church.  Separated or divorced persons are welcome to receive the sacraments.  The Eucharist can be a great comfort at this difficult time. Second, if you are hurting right now, please know that you are not alone. There are many others willing to walk this painful journey with you. We have a very active ministry to the separated/divorced and most cordially invite you to join us (or invite your loved ones to join us) for any or all of our groups and events and/or make use of our newsletter and other resources. We are here for you!

Prayer

praying woman

Father we belong to You.
We place ourselves anew in your hands.
We acknowledge you as Master and Lord of our lives.
Grant us the gift of a forgiving heart.
Cleanse us of our anger, hostility, or revenge.
Heal our hurts.
Teach us to rely on your love.
Grant us wisdom of heart.
Strengthen us by your grace to move on in faith,
In trust, and in love.
Thank you, Lord, for your love in our lives.
Amen

Meetings are based on the program, DivorceCare, which features practical information, group discussion and video presentations by experts in the fields of separation and divorce

*Discover that there are others who have the same kind of feelings you do—and who understand the hurt and pain you are going through. The group meets in a warm, caring environment designed to help you.
*You’ll discover there are people who understand your hurts, emotions and painful experiences! In divorce, it’s common to feel isolated. You’ll find that you are not alone, that there are others who understand what you are going through.

* You’ll learn helpful, practical information that will help you recover from your separation or divorce.
* You’ll have the chance to talk about your experiences. It can be very healing to tell others what you are going through. The support group sessions include a time to talk about what is going on in your life. And while you have the opportunity to tell your story, there’s never pressure for you to do so if you don’t feel like it.
* You’ll discover hope for the future. While things may look bleak now, you’ll  learn ways to restore your hope and rebuild your life.

Transform the chaos of separation and divorce into calmness by sharing with others in a support group.

Facilitator Christine H. will lead group meetings where a comfortable and supportive environment welcomes all who are rebuilding following separation or divorce.

This group meets twice monthly on the first and third Sunday of the month from 5pm - 6:30pm at The Good News Center, 10475 Cosby Manor Road, Utica.

Call Roxanne 315-735-6210, email separated.divorced@thegoodnewscenter.org or check out their website www.goodnewsfoundation.org for more information; walk-ins welcome.
